Sometimes, I hate working on computers. Or maybe I just hate Rook's computers. I think I have spent more hours working on his computer problems than I have everyone else I know put together. I remember when I worked at RS, it was always hard to explain to people the benefits of service plans and get them to honestly assess whether they needed it or not. ROOK DOES! But hey, he is family, so I try what I can. Anyways, I have spent the past ungodly amount of hours working on copying files from a corrupted about to die hard drive to a shiny new one. I know it was an ungodly amount because I had time to watch True Romance, Devil's Advocate, The da Vinci Code, Tomb Raider 2, write this post, and it is still going. And that has just been since dinner, I had a good 2-3 hours in before dinner. The results are mostly positive, which surprises the hell out of me from the bevy of errors I got when I started. I think I was able to get a good 95% of the data off before the drive died all together (I had backed up some stuff on my drives before they got the new one). Now I get to spend the next couple of days running it through some data recovery software to see if I can get that last 5%. With as bad as it got, I think my chances of getting anymore off of it are about the same as a dozen or so porn stars showing up at the door with tacos. I guess today could be the day, but I kinda hope not, I really don't need to eat any more junk food. And food served by porn stars seems unsavory for some reason.
On a side note, I have been watching my drinking quite a bit...fluids in general, not alcohol. I think I have mentioned on the page before, how I drink a pitcher of tea a day. And that is sweet tea, so along with a half gallon of water, we have about a cup of sugar a day. Aside from the iced tea, there is the occasional soda (I get 1 out of a 12 pack..maybe 1 out of 2 12 packs.), the slightly more regular mug of hot tea, the incredibly rare cup of milk, and water. I decided to see what happens if I too out my tea, and see where things went. As it turns out, I am making a lot of hot tea. Like 5-7 mugs a day. Sure, there is the occasional bit of water in there, like 2 mugs a day, which is technically an improvement, but it is still a lot of tea. And with the wife always complaining about how much sugar I added into my hot tea, I decided to do a little math, and sure enough, I am getting almost exactly the same amount of sugar drinking 6 mugs/day of hot tea as I was with a pitcher a day of iced tea. Good thing I didn't stop for health reason or I would be really upset.
