The Car, The Check, The Page, and The Holidays - Site News
Posted on: 2008-12-15 16:28:54

My car has been immobile for awhile now. It was working one day and the next, nothing. It feels like it has only been a couple of weeks, but I think it has been closer to two months now. Anyways, Thursday, we got a visit from the police about it. Apparently, the neighbors have been complaining because it is parked in front of their house, and since it wasn't moving, they finally had an actionable compaint. So, to keep it up to code, it is in the shop getting played with. Hopefully, it will not be too much to fix since we don't have too much to pay. And once it is fixed, I will continue to park it in front of my neighbors, because well, I can and there is no other place to put it.

Work has been slow. Which sucks, since I work on minimum wage + performance. The slower we are, the less performance we have an opportunity to get. This past weeks check, which should have been the largest of the year (or close to it) was short about 30 hours. I was one of two people at our store shorted, both of us, almost exactly 30 hours. They were quick to fix it, and the rest of my pay was in the bank within 24 hours, so there is nothing really to complain about. I was rather annoyed for 24 hours though. :)

We have some broken stuff around the page, and believe it or not, none of it is my fault. Our web hosting service switched us from one server to another and the new server does not have all the same perl modules on it, so whatever I had written to use those modules are now broken...yay. I am now trying to decide if I want to do a quick fix by loading those modules manually, or if I want to see about rewritting my code to work with what is on the new server.

Oh, and I am sporting something festive for the holidays. It is really damn bright, so it might not last too terribly long. But Happy Winterval while it lasts. I do need to credit http://www.schillmania.com/projects/snowstorm/ for the snowing.

Fucking random...

When I saw the snow all I could think about is "what the fuck... did you really have so much free time to just write code like this..." and then when I move my mouse all I could think was "cool but did he do this?"

Aside from that kick as much ass as you can at work!

Interesting.

Did not expect to see such a holiday wonderland when coming to the page. Also, for some reason Google Reader didn't update me on your last 2 posts, I was quite annoyed.

Amusing.
