I have a cranberry sauce recipe. We here Doyle Compound 3 have been trying to put together a slightly unconventional Thanksgiving that the Wife can prepare on Black Friday. Along with everything else, we wanted a new dessert...or at least, I wanted one. I did not want to do anything pumpkin, squash, or sweet potato. So, why not something with cranberries. Cranberries are good, right? The answer to that is yes, yes they are. But, in thinking about cranberries, my mind immediately went to Southern Comfort. We had picked up a bottle several months ago when we first found out that it was something drank and I have been the only one to touch it, so we still had about half the bottle (I think the world knows I really don't drink). Anyways, I remembered that on the bottle it mentioned making cranberry juice and SoCo drinks. So I figured, why not make some SoCo cranberry sauce.
- 1 Cup Sugar
- 1/2 Cup Water
- 1/2 Cup Southern Comfort
- 12 oz Whole Cranberries.
Bring the liquids and sugar to a boil. And in your cranberries and bring to a boil again. Reduce heat, simmer for about 10-15 minutes. Remove from heat, cool, and enjoy.
I started in right after it was done. I dipped some graham crackers into the sauce and damn it was good. I let it cool down to roughly room temperature, tossed it on some ice cream, and added a couple of graham crackers. I think I found a new dessert.
