The recent move from Terre Haute to Jasper is showing differences in all sorts of ways, and I am sure I will complain about all of them in detail given enough time. For this post, however, I will limit it to price competition. In Terre Haute, we had phone service through Verizon. For this service, which was basic everything, we paid around $35. Here in Jasper, for basic everything, we are paying over $60. The woman who activated the service did not seem to understand why I had a problem with the bill being $25 higher. I realized there was nothing I could do about it, so I accepted it and went on. I can't force them to lower their prices, they are the only ones who offere that service here. If I want a landline, I have to go through them. I can't wait to pick up cells again and ditch the landline.

For a little over half that, you get the same, but with a maximum of 500 minutes/mo. A very good deal for those with broadband.
