It is question time. - Site News

So I think I am going to have to add some type of spam protection to the site. I am not sure who the wife is pissing off, but she seems to be getting some now and again. The thought, of course, is to put one of those little images with random letters that you have to type to submit. The problem with that is, I know I hate those..a lot. Would you guys be offended if I added them? Or maybe more significantly, can you think/give example of a better way to do it?

I am indifferent

It's your site. Anything that protects my precious precious comments is great. By the way, I love the new transparent comment windows.

...you required us to log in to have access to the site? If that is the case, can't you block those that do not sign in? Or, even determine the origin of where the spam is coming from and contact them? In the end, if you need to do those crazy image letter things, I guess I'd still come back to read and post. :p

I don't make you login.

At least not on the blogs. I do on RCM, but not here. I had thought about making it so that you had to log on here, but nearly 1000 posts I would then have to make sure fell in right. That is a lot of manual editing. :)

Non-intrusive spam protection?

Isn't that some kind of an oxymoron?

I don't mind

I don't think those text verification boxes are all that annoying. Make them fun and do cool graphics for them.
