...I can actually hit the bull's eye without even looking. It is perhaps one of the scariest things to occur on this damn planet... If any of you have bothered to read every single post I have made thoroughly, you will notice that I am not afraid to make the most absurd and random connections ever. You will also notice that my grasps on the English grammar, language, and spelling are perhaps the most deplorable for anyone who is willing to call themselves high school graduates... Even with that, time for more connections!

This post will be dedicated to one of my previous post: La la la la la... I guess I should also mention that I am pretty bad with coming up with titles for my post. Though I do hit the bull's eye on making great titles more than I do with my connections. BACK TO THE DAMN POINT!!! For those who are too lazy to read the post that I am linking to, I will give a summary. The post is a little review/overview of an anime called Haibane Renmei. Aside from that, I also made some farfetched... thoughts (I wanted to use connections... but that would be a little... redundant?). In the seventh and eleventh paragraphs (seriously) I went and rambled on about how this anime was nothing more than some sort of catholic... uh... bullshit story? Neh, whatever. The point being, I drew a line between this anime and the catholic faith. I was so convinced that these two were related that I was willing to pave a road between the two (if you get that... then good for you?). I, however, had very little to prove that these two were related. Until I found this... If you scroll down a little and read the synopsis for a little bit, you will come across the title to the anime I was raving about in my other post. I don't know if I was annoyed or just too shocked to actually tell that I was feeling anything. Now that I think about it, I guess I was just stunned that I was actually right, when I had felt like I was just pulling mountains of shit out my ass. The point being, I had found concrete proof that the anime was actually related to the catholic, christian, or whatever faith. Kind of annoying to find this out almost a year later... but than again I didn't concern myself on this aspect as much as I did with the character design.

The second paragraph holds some of my concerns as to why I even bothered picking up this anime (technically I picked up the manga first... whatever) As two of you know Serial Experiments Lain has a pretty unique art style to it, something like Lovecraftian. Or maybe that is just the story? For the one person that probably hasn't been infected by the insanity that is SEL (shortened), here is a picture of Lain:

The first was just a copy from a previous post. The second gives a better feel for the artwork from the series in general. Considering the fact that it is a screen shot from the anime. I didn't take it myself, I just happened to have it on hand. As for Lain's counterpart, Rakka... well none of you have seen her so I will have to dig up a picture for you to compare:

Not the best pictures to be using to compare the two, but hey, I do what I can with what I have. You can see the similarities, right? There is enough to confirm that they are the same character, with one or two physical features changed. Their personalities are different, as well. But that can only be seen in the anime, and gives a little difference to how they look. Though I can say Rakka is a lot more cheerful than her predecessor, so it makes changes in her facial features a bit.

Anyways... The point of the last two paragraphs and the pictures is this: Yoshitoshi ABe is the character designer for both Lain and Rakka! Holy shit! Really? The sad part is that the back of the manga read this, "Created by yoshitoshi ABe (Niea 7, Serial Experiments Lain, Technolyze)". I hate my brain sometimes... I'm not sure as to whether or not I was too concerned with making the religious connections to forget about the character connections, or that I am just an idiot that forgets things or just doesn't notice them... Sucks to be me? Neh, I've got most of the answers I wanted from the anime now to no longer care.

In light to this evidence of a religious background, I still think it was a rather enjoyable anime. Though I'm sure if I read into it a bit more I can come to hate it as well... Neh, only time will tell.
