Damn Dots. - Misc - School

I finished my last project for Science of Color...well, I started and finished my last project for Science of Color. It was not really due until next week, but I did not want to put it off any longer. The project was a pointillism project. This is supposedly a state requirement of the class, but they say that about a lot of shit that really isn't. Anyways, the idea of the project was originally to produce a self-portrait using only the colors Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black (CMYK color space, like your printer) but while producing natural colors. Sadly, the prof kinda caved and opted to allow us to use any color and as many colors as we wanted. I was more than a little annoyed at that. Even if this is not a State requirement like they say, it is still very much an Ivy Tech thing. I, and apparently only I, opted to stick with the original CMYK color space. There are certain projects that EVERYONE does. It is almost like tradition. This is all so that we can gain an appreciation of mixing colors to produce the tones we need and to get a deeper understanding of how the priting process works since we are supposed to be aspiring graphic artists.

I started around 6:30-7 last night. I told myself that I would work until around 11pm and that I was not allowed to play EQ until I was then. I knew that was not enough time to finish it, but I also knew I would make some head way into it. I moved the drafting table to the center of the living room so I could see the yellow dots on the white illustration board, fired up MacGuyver, grabbed a drink, and began. With only the occasional 10-15 minute breaks now and then, I finished up this morning around 9. Yes, I was hunched over my project for over 12 hours (omitting breaks) doing nothing but making little dots. I celebrated with a couple of hours of sleep before the wife got me up for class. I presented it in class, and it was the first project I did not get glowing reviews on, but they still really liked it (I think everything I have done for this class has been crap, but they seem to like it). I do know it left some intimidated. I produced a better, truer picture with my 4 colors than many of them did with a myriad of colors. Oh well, it still looks like something I would see in a high school class. My back will be killing me for days, along with my neck. But I am done with it!! Now for Science of Color, I just have to make sure I have all my projects matted and ready to hand over next Monday and I am done. So now I am down to 1 Photoshop and 3 Illustrator projects...

Got love

And it's all in CMYK? That's pretty awesome. I wanna see it at some point.
