The year is almost dead! Yay!!! - Games - Misc - School
Posted on: 2005-12-30 14:39:26

Well, the year is almost to a close with only about 33 hours left. This year quite a bit changed for me: I quit my job (after almost five years), we both replaced our aging computers (and, of course, now they are not way outdated), I have gone back to school (12 hours getting 2 As and 2 Bs), we moved to a new address (much nicer place, but I still want more counter space), we moved our servers to a hosted environment (and they don't suck), and I spent way too much money on school supplies (being an art major is expensive, but at least a lot of it I can use over and over again). I am planning on getting a part-time job after I settle into the spring semester (hopefully on campus), I am getting Adobe's Design Suite and maybe another gig or ramn for the computer, I am picking up another 15 hours at Ivy Tech, we might actually get all our stuff organized here, I am going to further my work on the page and move to new areas...soon, and will spend more inordinate amounts of money on supplies. Go 2006.

It looks like I might be picking up a new MMO, Shards of Dalaya. It is an EverQuest emulation server, but even having played EverQuest for years, I am so fucking lost on SoD. I have not played much, but so much is different that I feel like a newb all over again. I really think I need to spend about 12 hours in the forums before I fire it up again.

Optimistic

Did you get some? Cause you are really optimsitic. :-) Oh, I am done being an ass... I hope 2006 brings you and yours many wonderful things.

Hmmmm...

I just reinstalled EQ and am patching as I write this. The only reason for doing this is SoD. It looks very interesting. Thanks for posting about it.

Although the cost really wasn't the reason I left MMOs, I will try this and see how I like it.

Oh, and Happy New Year!

Not sure if I would say optimistic...

Most of the stuff I mentioned probably will happen plus a lot more. If I was being optimistic, I would have said that I will graduate in December with a near 4.0, end up running my own business, and make an insane amount of money selling it to Google. :)

As for EQ, I am torn, SoD is giving me periodic connection issues, the GMs are nazis about their naming policy, and I keep getting messed up with the name changes. Everytime I get kicked and can't get back on, or can't get on in the first place, I fire up standard EQ (they gave me a free month) and I am liking the polish they have added since I left. So, I don't know where I am at with that one, but I think I will probably end up back with classic EQ for awhile.

Well...

I have found that my Internet Security is a problem for my initial connection to SoD, so I disable it until I connect. Then I re-renable it and have no problems. I'm up to level 6 already with one character and level 2 with the other. As for their strictness on policies, I kind of like it. This means no typical MMO assholes concerned with only themselves, as SoD is geared to a focused "play nice" environment. Also, I really don't like paying Sony for the times I decide to stop playing on a whim for a month or five. By being on a server where donations are the rule, I can donate on a regular basis when I am playing and not worry anbout canceling my account or re-enacting my account later. Anyway, I'm sure whatever your decision is will be best for your needs and desires. However, I am kind of looking forward to D&D Online this year. And, that leads me to this...Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

I was really impressed by all your projects for the last semster if I didn't say so while we were there. Keep up the good work!
