It looks like we are free. With exception of a couple of bills, we are done with Terre Haute...at least as far as obligations go. Our rental company has finally rented our apartment, so no more money is going to them. So we just have the dregs of bills from the utility places and we can focus entirely on the new place. This should also net us more a month here, which is good because I am not making quite as much as I thought I would be (I kind of expected another $50-150 a paycheck, since it is the holiday season, and holiday season normally means busy in retail).

Posted on: 2007-10-18 13:00:30[ More - 3 comments ]So, lets see what all I can change about my life during this move. First, and possibly most drastic for me, I have stopped drinking tea. Since I would normally drink about a half gallon of tea a day, which is about a cup of sugar a day, I think this is a good first move. Second, I am going to try and get some more exercise in my schedule. Since my current schedule is more or less nil, this should not be too difficult. It is not that I mind the weight, I am fine with being a big guy, I just miss knowing what I can do and I think that lack of knowledge is keeping me from doing anything. Third, I am going to try and adjust my sleep schedule to something more appropriate for someone nearing 30. Exhaustion has kept me down longer than I would have liked the last couple of days, I am getting to bed a little earlier than normal.

I can't wait until I don't have to make a 4-5 hour round trip with lots of moving and cleaning on either point of the move. Of course, we will still have another week or so of unpacking and organizing.

Posted on: 2007-10-11 15:19:25[ More - 6 comments ]Monday was the last trip to Terre Haute that was taken. We reached the point where we really needed to unpack what was here, so that we both had boxes and totes to pack up more and to simply make room here at the new place. I have a little more sorting to do, but for the most part, everything that is here and still packed is either going into storage in the basement or requires some of the stuff still up in Terre Haute. So tonight, or early tomorrow, I am running back up and spending the weekend finishing up. Needless to say, I am looking forward to Sunday. Too bad the basement isn't enough to move our friends in...or Moggers, they are about the only thing I will miss about TH.

Posted on: 2007-10-10 00:24:27[ More - 3 comments ]The move is going well. We still have a couple of trips, but I think we will be done on time. It is amusing to be half way through the move and to see just what is important, and what isn't. This is also the first time for us that the move is not close enough or fast enough that we should have planned what was going to be moved so that we don't go a week without needed stuff...like cooking utincils or stuff to eat on, but it has not been too bad.

Posted on: 2007-10-05 16:19:25[ 3 comments ]I probably won't be on much this weekend. I am about to head out to LGT to meet the wife, and we are staying at my parents tonight. Tomorrow morning around 9am, we are signing the lease. Then we get to run back and forth between Japser and Terre Haute until we get tired of moving. I am hoping we get enough done that next week won't be too bad.

Posted on: 2007-10-04 00:09:39[ More - 5 comments ]This whole packing thing is kind of amusing. I do feel like I am getting a lot done, but at the same time, I am really not knocking any specific areas out. I keep bouncing from area to area so that I get part of one part of the house done and then move somewhere else. I am really not sure how much this matters since I am about out of boxes to put stuff in. So once I am done with them, I guess I will revert to packing appliances and maybe...shuddder...start cleaning. I guess I could do the dishes in there somewhere. I hit a point about a week ago where I really don't have any food to fix, so why do I need clean stuff to fix it in, and I don't want to go shopping to get more so that I don't have to move it.

Posted on: 2007-10-02 14:40:09[ More - 3 comments ]I think my headache is almost gone. It is now to the point where I barely notice it, and only when I move too quickly or 'think' about it too much...which of course means it just flared up some since I thought about it, but I am sure it will subside quickly. I will just pop some pills and finish off this episode of Star Trek: TNG.
14 Days and Counting. - The Move
Posted on: 2007-10-01 22:33:13[ More - 3 comments ]I am on day four of a headache, and all I want to do is sleep. Due to that, I got far less done than I would have liked, but I have plenty of time so I am not worried. At my worst, I want to pack one room a day. If I count the cupboard, basement, and alcove as one room each that gives me nine days to finish and five for everything else. Using this schedule, I am doing well, but I know push come to shove that it won't really matter. Either Wednesday or Thursday (As soon as my headache dies), I will blow up and go crazy with the packing.

Shortly before the semester started the wife got a job teaching hign school in the town where we grew up in. Unfortunatly, this town is about 1.5 hours away. This meant a move was in store. Her parents have been kind enough to put her up while me, the cat, and all our stuff stayed here in the Haute.
