Yeah, I lost. I knew early that I probably was. I had too may days were I was staring at the screen wondering how I wanted to phrase something. I ended this year with 45,454 words. Okay, technically I have no idea how many words I have. There are 44.5k in my .odt and the roughly 1k words I wrote today at work. About 15k of those words were written in the last five days. Here are some more numbers for you, there are currently 63 8.5x11 typed pages, 6 7x5 hand written pages, and 16 chapters (or 15 chapters and an epilogue...not sure). While the page count will grow, the chapter count won't (or shouldn't).

Posted on: 2010-11-08 02:15:44[ More - Add comment ]I had been planning to update a bunch on my NaNo progress, but I sidetracked myself. Just before NaNo kicked off, I started a post about all the dramatic changes Blizzard made to Holy Paladins in Warcraft. I got about half way through my post, got bored with it, saved it to draft, and never returned to it. I wanted to finish it before moving on, hence the lack of random word counts. I suck at updates anyways.

Posted on: 2010-10-25 03:19:16[ 2 comments ]I have not progressed nearly as well as I would like in my story planning. I blame WoW and my total lack of comprehension of time. I do have quite a bit planned out, possibly more than my previous three years. Still, I don't think I am ready. And in that vein, I am not sure I am going to do book 3 this NaNo. In fact, I think I am going to do book 1 again. I only got a little over 12k in the first time around, I am scraping some of that, and rewriting most of the rest, so why not? Besides, it feels weird talking about work on subsequent novels when the first one isn't done yet.

Posted on: 2010-10-01 03:33:12[ 2 comments ]Yes, I have fallen behind in just about everything: the blog, the novels, my reading, the cleaning. But the bills are getting paid and I almost have another level 80 in WoW. In the last month or so, I have (re)discovered http://www.reddit.com/ and Irish whiskey (and Irish coffee), trained a couple of people at work, finished Little Brother
and started Nineteen Eighty-Four
. I finally threw out my old, worn, and rather disgusting Jinx AFK hat and purchased a couple of really plain hats off of the $2 clearance rack at Wal-Mart. And I have slept, at least once or twice. Speaking of sleep, I am gonna go do that now.
Plotting Along. - Stories
Posted on: 2010-08-17 03:25:50[ More - 3 comments ]I have been slowly progressing on my stories the past week or so. Changes I wanted to make to the stories (some mentioned on the page, most not) pretty much required some overhauls to what I had written and what I had planned to write. Given the little I had actually written in book 1 (about 12k words), I figured I would start there. Essentially, I am re-plotting the entire book. I am about 9 chapters in, and I am expecting another 20 or so. I am hoping to be done plotting everything out by the end of August, so I got about 2 weeks.

Posted on: 2010-05-17 02:48:27[ More - 10 comments ]I am aware of the lack of posts. Oddly, it doesn't even stem from a lack of anything to post about, just nothing over exciting, or at least nothing I feel excited about to somehow stretch it out into a single post. Instead of hashing out the reason(s) I have just been wearily plodding on, just being content that I can, in fact, wearily plod on. So here is a sum up:
R, I'm a dead plotline. - NaNoWriMo - Stories
Posted on: 2010-04-24 03:52:00[ More - 3 comments ]I think I need to work in 4 hour shifts as opposed to the 8 hour ones I work. It has nothing to do with work itself, but I have all these ideas for my stories that never get written down because the creative side of my brain gets worn out midway though my shift and gives up. Since I have no time to jot down notes, I just need shorter shifts. Simple.
Doing the Prep Work - Stories
Posted on: 2010-03-21 04:14:38[ More - Add comment ]I have done NaNoWriMo for the last three years. I have had a lot of fun, got a lot written (at least last year), and the month long activity kept me focused on something other than WoW. Well the fine folks that created NaNo also host a script writing month in April called Script Frenzy. The goal: 100 pages of original scripted material in 30 days. (Screenplays, stage plays, TV shows, short films, and graphic novels are all welcome.) Since I am kind of in a lull right now, I figured why not? Plus, I have had this idea in my head since late August last year that would fit into this fairly well...Okay, so it kind of fits.

Posted on: 2010-01-12 14:18:52[ More - Add comment ]It is crazy that it has been two weeks since I posted last. It doesn't seem like that long, but a lot has happened since 12-27 (the 12-29 post was late due to a text to post error and my general lack of attention). My addiction to WoW was rekindled, the new year broke, Rook had another extended visit, I had a job interview (waiting on a call for the follow up this week, keep your finger crossed...and your toes...and children's toes...and anything else you can cross), the wife's grandfather passed away, I met a ton of the wife's relatives (most of which I had seen at least once before), and I have been heartily thinking about putting XP back on my computer instead of Win7 (at least until I get a faster proc and more ram...ie about two months after I find a job.) As far as the novel goes, I have poked around a bit, mostly seeing where I left off, and trying to find my voice again. I even have a few ideas for a possible fourth(?) novel in the series, and some expansions on the ideas I had for the third.
