Hmmm, I could go on a couple of different ways with that title. To start, apparently the alarm went off 5 times today before I dragged my but out of bed (4 times before the wife did) and I still got a shower and got to work on time. But, well, this is a Bluevest post, so who cares about me... on to a slightly amusing post about customers.
I was out in the main aisle building a stack of TVs. Now being the Home Entertainment department, we have TVs going, stereos blaring, the phone rining nonstop with people calling hourly to see if we have stuff they know no one does, and today, the alarm clocks going off out of time. Now mind you, this is normal. At least twice a day people think it would be funny to be totaly original and set all the alarms to go off within a couple of minutes of each other...and then prompty forget what was funny and leave before any of them go off. (If only they stuck around and realized that they really don't annoy US, they annoy other customers, so we don't care.).
Anyways, a woman walks up to the counter and start fumbling through her things. I wait a minute to walk up, thinking that she might just walk on, and then walk up when I realize that she is staying. I asked if I could help her, and she responded by asking what all the annoying racket was. Before I had a chance to speak, she rattled something off about it being really annoying, and how she was sure she would hate my job because of all the people turning things up and setting things to go off. To this I replied that you could not really go more than a few minutes in my job before someone was annoying you with something, but that you get used to the things you can just turn off. She pointed out that she had stopped because she thought the racket was her cell phone going off. I made some offhanded remark about her ring being odd and she walked away laughing.
About five minutes later, she walks back up to me...the alarms are still going off...puts her hands on her hips in obvious mock annoyance, "I just realized you were making fun of me. Getting annoyed every five minutes by things you can't turn off? You were talking about me!" And realizing she was just playing, "Well, I did complement you on the fact that you have a cell phone that rings like the racket of multiple alarm clocks going off at once."
